Thursday Birdblogging

Not long ago one of these showed up in one of our overflowing ditches during the floods, and I am so glad to see them again. They were quite common on Chincoteague, although a tad sinister they are lovely. I do associate them with something out of Tolkien, though.

And factually; The Glossy Ibis probably crossed the Atlantic from Africa to northern South America in the 19th century, dispersing northward into the United States by way of the Caribbean region. from
