Thursday Birdblogging
Not long ago one of these showed up in one of our overflowing ditches during the floods, and I am so glad to see them again. They were quite common on Chincoteague, although a tad sinister they are lovely. I do associate them with something out of Tolkien, though.
And factually; The Glossy Ibis probably crossed the Atlantic from Africa to northern South America in the 19th century, dispersing northward into the United States by way of the Caribbean region. from www.enature.com
This one I found at http://www.naturephoto-cz.com/photos/birds/glossy-ibis-2653.jpg
