Impeachment Called For ... Again and Again
Impeach.
When a takeover of our highest offices by war criminals happens, as it has in the past 7+ years, when does action start?
It was lovely to listen to the reading of Rep. Kucinich's articles of impeachment against Vice President Cheney, that's a beginning, but it needs to be taken up by the rest of our elected officials.
Today at WaPo, an editorial about the destruction of tapes of interrogations brought a lot of commenters to the fore, with many calls for impeachment.
Increasingly, the commenters at all our blogs and at such public voice outlets as at WaPo are calling for the removal of the war criminals.
The crimes mount, and the popular voice is getting louder. I recall that in order to get civil rights legislation enacted, LBJ told the Rev. Martin Luther King that he should force LBJ to act, and that the outcry needed to be overwhelming.
What does it take to make the call for impeachment overwhelming?
The recognition of this occupied White House's criminal character does not seem to be enough for our elected officials who are charged with the job to feel pressured actually to do their job.
May I ask you all to call your representatives and tell them it's time to protect our country. If we don't do it now, it can become too late.

Of course it was destruction of evidence. It's what this Administration does. It does criminal things and then demands retroactive immunity.
Look at all the missing White House email they can't find. How do you think it all suddenly disappeared? You don't believe that in a time like this, they don't have multiple backups. Especially for continuity of government reasons in case Washington is hit.
Look at what NASA did to the recording of the meeting that Administrator Mike Griffin had with the Inspector General's office. Griffin joked about it. Congress requested a Justice Department criminal investigation of that. What is the status of that inquiry?
In the air safety report case, Congress had to send a letter to NASA reminding the agency of its obligation to maintain public records. They attached a copy of the relevent legal statute to the letter.
And speaking of immunity, Bush demanded that telecos get immunized for participating in the administration's illegal information gathering.
This administration does criminal things and lies and lies and lies. I can't believe this government is still in office. Congress has impeached people for far less.

Madam speaker, please put impeachment back on the table.

Everyone knows what they did was destroy evidence, and that is always a crime, just like Enron when they destroyed evidence by shredding all important paperwork. I tell you what, these guys are criminals plain and simple, fire the lot of them, and impeach the idiot in charge along with his minion, we need to be done with these crooks.

Destruction of evidence is proof in and of itself that the evidence would have been damning. WaPo needs to make that next step it keeps avoiding, and call for the proper use of impeachment, for high crimes and misdemeanors, to preserve the democracy we're losing.

DK is a rep, not a sen, fwiw
Isn't this convenient... We discover that Bush and Cheney are trying to lie us into a nuclear war. Then, after a couple of days, there is a leak that the CIA has destroyed a couple of evidence tapes. All of a sudden, the press goes hog wild over those tapes, accomplishing two purposes: discrediting the intelligence agencies that produced the NIE, and totally wiping out of the mainstream news a Presidential offense that absolutely calls for impeachment.
I wonder who leaked the CIA story.
hear, hear! my voice is part of that chorus.
We have to remember that we get the government we deserved. Be that the representatives who are too timid or invested to bring the charge or the idiot and his dark lord who admitted they work tirelessly for their 'interests.'(well, one surely has)
Yes, it has gone on long, but we put them in and it is our Nation and not in our interest they remain. Question is...when will the pain exceed the accepted level? Have those Interests already taken control? Seems to me they became the owners nearly three decades ago.
Kucinich is a rep, not a senator. maybe you want to make that change.
good post!

Thanks, outlandish josh and TheraP, change made, but I really wanted to give him a promotion.
Two words can recall the missing tapes:
Sy Hersh
Nothing will happen.
No curtain will be pulled back:
Everyone's too busy shopping for the perfect Chinese labor camp made something for the Holy Days.
We are so screwed: we all fell asleep at the wheel.
My comments are now being put into a file as I type this.
