U.S. No. 1 in Spoilation of Earth

The U.S. has certainly been the leader in spoiling the earth, and the continents of Europe have refused to go long any longer. While the occupied White House keeps offering alternate, voluntary plans that have no pretense of actually working against global warming, there are nations out there that have no intention of letting the cretin in chief get by with it any more.

The EU has threatened to boycott a climate summit in Washington next month called by President Bush unless the US signs up to for cuts in CO2 emississions.

Officials said there would be no point in attending the summit unless President Bush is committed to big reductions in the gases which cause global warming.

The pressure was piled on Washington - which has always refused to accept the principle of CO2 targets - when former vice-president Al Gore told the climate conference in Bali that the US was "principally responsible for obstructing progress here in Bali. We all know that."

The Nobel Prize winner's hour-long speech was greeted by cheers from the delegates from more than 180 countries.

Portuguese environment secretary Humberto Rosa said the EU was "disappointed" that the US was not prepared to accept the inclusion of targets of 25 per cent to 40 per cent emissions cuts for developed countries by 2020 in the Bali roadmap.

Without a deal in Bali, there would be no point attending the major economies meeting backed by President George Bush, which brings the big polluters together to discuss emissions cuts, the EU said.

The disagreement threatens the chance that representatives will agree to begin negotiations on a UN deal to cut emissions that would come into force after the current Kyoto protocol expires in 2012.

The United States, Japan, Russia and several other governments have refused to accept a draft document suggesting that industrialised nations consider cutting emissions by 25 per cent to 40 per cent by 2020, saying specific targets would limit the scope of future talks.

The EU and others claim the figures reflect the measures scientists say are needed to rein in global warming and head off predictions of rising sea levels, worsening floods and droughts, and the extinction of plant and animal species.

The Dems have had to give up, with Rep. Obey leading the charge, acting like the White House is serious in offering dribs and drabs to get the legislation it wants.

The Senate fell one vote short of sending the Energy bill on for the WH to veto.

The whole world is watching, and what they are seeing is the refusal of this war criminal administration to do what it takes to keep the whole world viable.

Impeachment is overdue.
