Dirty Work Rewarded

Qualifications for high office in the past 7+ years have declined to (1) familiarity with the war criminals and families, and (2) See (1). What happens after these public disservants have been forced from office? It would appear that the answer is, rewards for standing against those influences that would have influenced you to honor your oath of office, or fulfill the requirements of your job.

Having made some suggestions in the past that I always suspect future economic advantage as an incentive to appointees of this administration to violate our laws and the constitution, this little arrangement for Ashcroft just doesn't surprise me.

Federal prosecutors are steering no-bid contracts to former government officials who earn millions of dollars by monitoring companies accused of cheating investors and other schemes.

A consulting firm led by former U.S. attorney general John D. Ashcroft recently won an assignment, valued at more than $25 million, to ensure that a medical equipment maker stops paying kickbacks to doctors who use its products. Other former government officials with ties to the Bush administration have secured similar deals, which are paid using corporate funds and entail few, if any, checks on spending.
(snip)
After Zimmer, an Indiana manufacturer of medical implants for knee and hip replacements, took the rare step of disclosing its fee deal with Ashcroft to resolve kickback allegations, Democratic officials in New Jersey began to agitate for more information about the former attorney general's role and qualifications.

In government filings, Zimmer said it had agreed to pay senior executives at Ashcroft's consulting group $1 million per month for advice and expenses, as well as to hire more accountants and lawyers who would bill the company on an hourly basis. The deal works out to about $1.5 million monthly for 18 months, the company estimated.

I can't help but see Zimmer's action as a plea for help. It is being used to pass money on to a person who has done the occupied White House dirty work, and it is on the spot.

The appointments from hell this administration has made may be rivalled in the amount of harm they do to the country by the rewards for bad behavior that have been handed out like this one. As Professor Wombat at Eschaton has predicted, it will take a long hard effort to pry the evildoers out of government jobs. These positions of power and profit have seemingly been a major object for the war criminals.

The industry interest rats are scurrying through sewers that will take a major effort to clean up.

The deaths they have caused should be the cause of an appearance in court for war crimes for all of them.

So, for a Million a month in "up-front" money Crisco Johnnie will make that "kick-back" problem go away, and for half that much he'll keep it away. That's precious: a former AG running a protection racket!
