Whooping Cranes, from Paul Rebmann
In the 1940s there were less than 2 dozen whooping cranes in existence. Thanks to an extensive recovery program that includes raising the birds with no human contact (the people that work with them wear 'whooper' costumes) and migration training with ultra-light planes, there are nearly 500 today, some of which now winter in Florida. wildflphoto.com features many rare and endangered plant and animal species along with the more common flora, fauna and scenes of Florida.

gorgeous!
Wow.
Saw one once at Aransas Pass wildlife refuge. Looked all day and finally one came into view. It was well worth it, not even considering all the other birds we saw.
Whoop! There it is!
