Repeated Question

It is good to hear Sen. John Warner repeat the question to Gen. Petraeus he had asked before, just now. He asks, is the war in Iraq making America more secure? In last year's questioning, Gen. Petraeus simply didn't commit to saying that our efforts in the war there make America more secure. Again, just now, he did not commit to that, although this time Sen. Warner offered another grounds, asking is it worth it, and Gen. Petraus did say that he thought it did.

Senator Warner then asked Ambassador Crocker if it the war makes America more secure, noting that 80% of Americans do not think the war is worth our sacrifice. Ambassador Crocker did say that he considered that al Quaeda, "our mortal enemy", is being weakened by the war and that this makes us more secure.

The facts that our army is being destroyed were not mentioned, an aspect that would militate against our increased security, but then I am well aware that the theatre of hearings is not meant to get into real exploration.

Senator Warner let Gen. Petraeus' non-reply go by this time, something that quite likely will go unremarked except by me.

Our leader, Gen. Petraeus, has not said that we are more secure. The cretin in chief, who has said that we are now being led by Gen. Petraeus, keeps pounding in that he is fighting the evildoers over there so they won't come over here. Of course, leading up to September 11, the same war criminal couldn't be bothered by briefings that would have apprised him of the looming danger and the need to act to keep from such attacks. Security is something that we did not receive when it would have been timely, so it is the thrust of the cabal's fear mongering now.

It was a treat to hear in White House briefings earlier this week that Helen Thomas is not cowed, asking if Gen. Petraeus were not an unelected president, being now charged with responsibility for decisions on the war.

Another great one, Sen. Kennedy did point out that in view of the violence needing to be contained, the cretin in chief insisted we had to stay in Iraq. Now, insisting that violence is decreased, the same cretin in chief insists we have to stay in Iraq, and Sen. Kennedy notes that the arrows continue going in the same direction from the WH no matter what the conditions.

Another note; the Sons of Iraq are being paid to help out, although they are called a voluntary force. There are 90,000 of them, to be transitted over to the government force, depending on 'literacy' and physical disability.

Still fighting the flu, so my posts are a little sketchy. Diane has had some brilliant posts though, so I don't feel too bad for you readers.
