Cool Facts

* Juncos are the "snowbirds" of the middle latitudes. In the eastern United States, they appear in all but the most northern states only in the winter, and then retreat each spring.


Whattaya know, the dark eyed junco, seen here, is five different species. This is a bird seen often here, and common also to me when living in Maryland, known to me since forever as the slate-colored junco.
