Live! Live! Live!
The wingers who refused to leave the floor of the House after it adjourned have persisted in refusing any good sense solution, the continuation of alternative energy. If you missed their tirade just now, well, you've seen this happen before.
Calling back the Congress, which is what they're calling for, happened before. It was a massive right wing effort to continue the machine-maintained life of Terry Schiavo. In the end, by the way, it was shown that she was indeed dead.
The nonsense that continuing to lease more resources will bring down the price of oil has been disproved over the past seven years. The myth that just continuing the policies that have failed will at last do the opposite of what it has done so far is dead. It cannot be resuscitated, because it has no brain. Hint: Faith based energy policy isn't working for the country.
The contention that lowering taxes will give us a healthy economy, that too is long disproved. The reason the right keeps pushing it is that they really are the irrational element that has given us disaster. Faith based economics failed. They can't face it, but the U.S. has to.
Rep. Pence declared that these wingers had tried to open up the reserves to the public and failed. Nonsense. Rep. McCotter said this is not a Democrat v. Republican thing. Nonsense. Rep. Price said the wingers were going to ask the occupied White House to call an emergency session.
The last time the forces all came back to D.C. to effect this kind of outburst, it was a tragic farce. No less so is this tragic, to see that the facts will not sway these drama queens - or jesters, in any case.
The whole bunch now having a fit of hysteria in the people's house should be thrown out. They're broadcasting via cellphone, now, just to show they cannot be swayed by reason. You hate to tell them it was science they were using, there.
What a bunch of fools, and a display of the character that has brought down this country to the sad state it's in.

I see remarkably little push back in the form of reporting on what made the price of gas hit 4$.
If you were following the price of crude on any business site, you see frequent references to the value of the dollar.
And it's Bush and Cheney policies that have done the most damage to the dollar.
Of course, taking Iraq's oil off the market didn't help. Nor does threatening Iran with the same.

I loved the 'off-mike' remarks the cretin in chief made, that it is the stock market making the problem, altho publicly he continues the hard sell for Drill,Drill,Drill. In other words, he knows it's a lie. As usual, trying to harm the public by lying.
How about some poison pills in the bill, then?
New oil leases contingent on producing X barrels from existing leases within 1 year. Heavy fines if the oil cos don't get it done.
It would make them complain that they can't POSSIBLY do that, at which point the Ds can point out that, well, then, how is that going to bring down gas prices in the near future?
Or, write into the bill a windfall profits tax; the oilcos have to give something to get something. Also threaten/promise to do this with existing leases when they're renewed.
Or, mandate that the companies are not allowed to sell the (highly theoretical) increased number barrels from the new leases anywhere but in the US. Let the oilcos explain why they want to drill in sensitive areas and then sell the oil to China.
Of course, I'm not a Dem congresscritter, so WTFDIK?
