Thursday Bird Blogging

Thanks to Paul Rebmann, we have a wonderfully reflective (couldn't help it, I gotta pun) picture of a white egret. From Florida, where Paul takes lots of great shots. Visit at wildflphoto@earthlink.net for more than birds alone.

For anyone who gets into birding - I am rather a peripheral birder at the moment - there is a white juvenile stage of the blue heron that often is taken for an egret. I have no confidence in my ability to tell them apart. The cattle egret, sometimes called the gold-crested egret, is a favorite because as far as my experience goes, I can't mix it up with anything else. And it was often following the ponies on Assateague Wildlife Refuge around picking off ticks.
