Thursday Birdblogging
The Western meadowlark is a lovely soaring sight that greets me most morning from its highwire act outside the window at work. It's got that special bright yellow breast and 'hail to thee blythe spirit' flight that always catches a bit of joy. I hope you get to watch one someday.
I have occasionally seen Eastern and Western meadowlarks on the same fence, near a local wildlife refuge.

Nice! I've had a couple of visits from Eastern Meadowlarks in my yard, but rare, the habitat doesn't suit them.
