Trip Back in History, Great Scenery

The ruins of a church built for their conquistadores by the natives, with kivas in their midst, at Quarai Mission. Always amazing to see this degree of tolerance in some of the priests, and in the historic trail information posters is included a little story about one of the soldiers giving a diatribe about the rulers being The Crown, not the gods.

These are not far from Mountainair on Route 60, and are a ghosttown with history going back to 1200 AD.

Those are actually antelope with Sangre de Cristo Mts. in the background. Any closer, and the antelope lope.
