The Dirty Dozen
Yesterday, I put up a post indicating that HR 3 on embryonic stem cell research was scheduled for a House vote this Thursday. I noted that while the bill would probably pass both the House and the Senate, at this point a veto-proof majority did not exist in the House. I got another email, this time from DefCon, with a list of twelve members of the House who have made it clear they will vote against HR 3.
Rep. Rick Renzi
— from the 1st district in Arizona
Rep. John Doolittle
— from the 4th district of California
Rep. Marilyn Musgrave
— from the 4th district of Colorado
Rep. Tom Tancredo
— from the 6th district of Colorado
Rep. Vern Buchanan
— from the 13th district in Florida
Rep. Peter Roskam
— from the 6th district in Illinois
Rep. Mike Ferguson
— from the 7th district in New Jersey
Rep. Randy Kuhl
— from the 29th district of New York
Rep. Thomas Reynolds
— from the 26th district of New York
Rep. Steve Chabot
— from the 1st district in Ohio
Rep. Jean Schmidt
— from the 2nd district in Ohio
Rep. Thelma Drake
— from the 2nd district in Virginia
DefCon has a petition to sign that will be sent to these congresspeople. Just go to the link I provided above.
I also suggest that if you are a constituent of any of these representatives you give a call or send a fax to him or her and make it clear that you expect them to represent you and not just their own private religious biases.
The vote is Thursday, so we don't have much time.
