Not Funny, NOT FUNNY!
The NRA is holding a meet and greet, so Sen. McCain and former Governor Huckabee decided to drop by. Nothing too unusual there. McCain reminded the NRA that if either Sen. Clinton or Sen. Obama won the election "law-abiding" gun owners could count on their God-Given Right To Bear Arms being taken away. Nothing too unusual there, either.
But something rather stunning did happen at the conference, according to a Reuters wire report published in the NY Times when Huckabee spoke:
Former Republican presidential contender Mike Huckabee, interrupted on Friday by a loud crash as he spoke to the National Rifle Association, joked that the noise was Democratic candidate Barack Obama falling off a chair as he dodged a gun aimed at him.
"That was Barack Obama. He just tripped off a chair. He was getting ready to speak and somebody aimed a gun at him, and he dove for the floor," Huckabee told the NRA convention in Louisville, Kentucky, in comments that aired on CNN.
Some joke, eh?
Especially from a Christian minister.
I am appalled.
